It is with great joy, and some amount of pride, that I pen (type, actually) my inaugural message for our very own Nanyang website. Joy because I feel it is high time that our community has its own website to connect our residents, particularly those who prefer the Internet realm. Pride, because our team of grassroots volunteers has done a very creditable job in bringing our vision to fruition.

In these challenging economic times, it is indeed inspiring to find businesses with a heart, right here in Nanyang.
One such business is the NTI Food Court at Blk 964 Jurong West St 91 #01-340.

An exemplary young volunteer
Mr Sam Ng has been involved in community service with the Nanyang Zone 2 Residents' Committee (RC) since September 2007 and has found this to be a richly rewarding activity. Sam, 31, is part of a growing number of young adults willing to invest time and efforts in voluntary and community activities.
Sam, who resides at Block 977 Jurong West St 93, was first encouraged to join the grassroots by a friend and thought this was a good opportunity to make more friends and lead a more fulfilling life by being able to contribute back to society in his own special way. He has been actively involved in many activities since, and has been recognized and appreciated for going out of his way to help the needy and less fortunate.
Looking out for each other
Mrs Gladys Tan Wee has been a resident of Nanyang since 1990. Gladys has built a strong friendship with her neighbour of some 18 years, Bee Choo. The two neighbours can count on each other for emotional support, and have a special bond between them. Bee Choo, a working mother, trusts Gladys so much that she can comfortably leave a spare set of keys with Gladys so that she can help look after Bee Choo's home and family.
